The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), in partnership with the Uganda Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Emirates Airline, has taken a significant step toward strengthening Uganda’s position as a premier global tourism destination. Through a landmark memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, 11 key trade partners have been invited on an exclusive familiarization trip to explore Uganda’s iconic tourist attractions.
This initiative, which began on January 21, 2025, is designed to showcase Uganda’s exceptional offerings, including Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the world-famous mountain gorillas.
Zaake Kibedi, Uganda’s Ambassador to the UAE, highlighted the importance of this initiative in deepening ties between Uganda and the UAE, noting that it would build lasting partnerships to attract more visitors to experience the “Pearl of Africa.” Lilly Ajarova, CEO of UTB, emphasized that the partnership with Emirates demonstrates a shared commitment to promoting Uganda as a must-visit destination. She pointed out that the trip is a testament to the strategic importance of collaboration in enhancing connectivity and spotlighting Uganda’s unique tourism assets.
Mohamed Taher, Emirates’ country manager for Uganda, also underscored the airline’s dedication to supporting Uganda’s tourism efforts, particularly as they celebrate 25 years of service to Entebbe Airport. He expressed pride in enabling key tastemakers in the travel industry to experience Uganda’s stunning natural landscapes, adventure sports, wildlife, and warm culture. By leveraging world-class partnerships and strategic initiatives like this, Uganda is poised to attract more international visitors and solidify its reputation as the “Pearl of Africa.”
