In a commendable recognition of leadership and advocacy, MTN Uganda has celebrated Kate Kiiza, Executive Director at dfcu Bank, for her outstanding contribution to advancing women’s empowerment and economic inclusion in Uganda.

Championing Women’s Economic Growth

During a visit to dfcu Bank, Justina Icabala, MTN Uganda’s Business Segment Manager, lauded Kiiza for her impactful work in creating opportunities for women entrepreneurs. A passionate advocate for financial inclusion, Kiiza has played a crucial role in initiatives that drive female economic participation and business growth.

dfcu Bank has long been a key player in supporting women through customized financial solutions, mentorship programs, and strategic collaborations. Its flagship Women in Business (WiB) program provides female entrepreneurs with access to affordable credit, business advisory services, and financial literacy training to help them expand and scale their enterprises.

Recently, dfcu Bank was selected as one of the financial institutions to implement the GROW Project, a nationwide initiative aimed at accelerating the growth and skill development of female business owners.

A Recognized Commitment to Women’s Empowerment

Expressing gratitude for the recognition from MTN Uganda, Kiiza reaffirmed dfcu Bank’s dedication to empowering women. She emphasized that fostering female entrepreneurship is a core value of the bank, which proudly boasts a workforce with more than 50% female employees.

“Our commitment to women’s economic inclusion is not just a mission—it’s a lived experience at dfcu Bank,” Kiiza noted. “We value our partnership with MTN Uganda and remain committed to working together to create even more opportunities for women.”

The Impact of the MTN-dfcu Partnership

The collaboration between dfcu Bank and MTN Uganda under the Advancing Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) initiative has yielded significant results. Within just a year, the percentage of women-led businesses securing supplier contracts with MTN Uganda has surged from 3% to 14%, with over UGX 20 billion in contracts awarded to female entrepreneurs. This initiative has facilitated market access, strengthened business capacity, and promoted sustainability among women-led enterprises.

Building on this success, dfcu Bank and MTN Uganda are exploring further partnerships to enhance financial inclusion, mentorship, and digital transformation for women in business. By investing in training, financing opportunities, and business networking, dfcu Bank continues to reinforce its role as a leading force in sustainable development and financial inclusion in Uganda.

A Future of Empowered Women Entrepreneurs

As dfcu Bank looks ahead, it remains committed to championing the economic empowerment of women. Through innovative financial products, strategic alliances, and continuous mentorship, the bank is setting the stage for a thriving community of female entrepreneurs who will drive economic transformation across Uganda.

With leaders like Kate Kiiza at the helm, the future for women in business looks brighter than ever.
