Uganda Airlines’ Expands Its African Routes: A Win for Uganda and Travelers Alike

Uganda Airlines

Uganda Airlines is broadening its reach, introducing three new routes to Abuja, Lusaka, and Harare. Starting September 12th for Abuja and September 25th, 2024 for Lusaka and Harare, this expansion signifies more than just additional destinations.

For Uganda, this marks a significant stride in its aviation industry, particularly as the airline prepares to celebrate its fifth anniversary in August 2024. Jennifer Bamuturaki, CEO of Uganda Airlines, highlighted that these new routes are designed to build a more efficient and profitable regional market. This, in turn, supports a stronger long-haul network, reflecting Uganda’s growing prominence in the global aviation arena.

For travelers, the new routes mean enhanced connectivity and convenience. Business and leisure travelers can now explore new destinations with ease, fostering stronger economic and cultural ties across Africa. The focus on underserved routes ensures that more regions benefit from improved accessibility and economic opportunities.

The airline’s commitment to growth is further evidenced by a 20% increase in traffic at Entebbe International Airport and expanded cargo operations. With 19 daily flights and 16 total destinations, Uganda Airlines is not just growing; it’s redefining travel in the region.

The launch of these new routes also signifies the successful conclusion of Uganda Airlines’ 3-year strategic plan, paving the way for the next phase of its 10-year rolling plan. This move underscores the airline’s vision to connect Africa, prioritizing routes backed by thorough feasibility studies.
