Uganda’s national carrier, “The Crane,” is scheduled to set off on its maiden voyage to Mumbai-India every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.
This was revealed during a meeting between Uganda Airlines and the Indian community in Uganda.
Home to around 35,000 Indian residents, Uganda is a significant player from where these people make trips back to India with their families at least once annually.
While at the meeting, the Executive Director of Uganda Airlines, Jennifer Bamuturaki, remarked that come September, Indians will finally have the convenience of direct flights to Mumbai. This comes after productive discussions with the Indian Association of Uganda.
The airline’s new route to Asia will encompass three direct flights per week from Entebbe to Mumbai, India, with the inaugural flights expected to commence in September.
The intent of the meeting was to present the airline’s schedule to the Indian community and to gain insights into their expectations regarding the national carrier. The community responded by expressing interest in additional flight paths beyond Mumbai. They are particularly eager for Uganda Airlines to extend its services to Ahmedabad and Delhi.
The Indian High Commissioner to Uganda, Upender Singh Rawat, conveyed his appreciation for the introduction of direct flights, emphasizing the wide array of opportunities they will unlock. These opportunities encompass enhanced access to medical facilities, expanded business prospects, and enriched tourism possibilities.
