Uganda Airlines is set to introduce a new route between Entebbe and Harare on September 25, aiming to strengthen trade and tourism ties between Uganda and Zimbabwe. Chief Commercial Officer Adedayo Olawuyi emphasized the potential for growth in both sectors, noting the current absence of direct flights between the nations. Initially, the airline will offer four flights connecting Entebbe, Lusaka, and Harare.

Plans for further expansion include adding routes to Lusaka, Bulawayo, and Victoria Falls, capitalizing on the busy air traffic between Zimbabwe and Zambia. This is part of Uganda Airlines’ broader effort to enhance its regional network.

The airline will also focus on cargo transportation, taking advantage of the significant trade volume between these destinations. It aims to achieve financial stability within 18 months of launching the new routes.

This expansion comes at a time when Zimbabwe, with its growing economy, tourism, and open skies policy, is attracting over 20 international airlines. Uganda Airlines also plans to extend its services to China and London by the end of the year.
