By Air

When it comes to convenience, air travel is your best bet. Entebbe International Airport, located 37 kilometers outside the capital, Kampala, serves as Uganda’s primary international airport. Although there are no direct flights from certain regions, connecting flights via major cities worldwide, including Nairobi, Kigali, Addis Ababa, and Johannesburg, provide accessible routes to Uganda.

By Road

For those who prefer overland travel, Uganda boasts 40 immigration stations scattered around its borders. Some key entry points include Kagitumba, Gatuna, and Kyanika from Rwanda; Suam, Malaba, and Busia from Kenya; Afogi and Nimule from South Sudan; Mutukula from Tanzania; and Bwera from the DRC. Marine ports along Lake Victoria also serve as entry points.

By Water

Entry Requirements and Tips for Traveling to Uganda

Uganda’s land borders are generally relaxed, requiring proper documentation. Visitors often cross from Kenya or Tanzania by road. Yes. Uganda is a peaceful and generally calm country. Though with some revolts at times and insecurities in some areas, they are often optimistic crimes are mostly dealt with amicably with less violence.

While travelling to Uganda, all people (Passengers, staff and general public) accessing the passenger and cargo terminal buildings at Entebbe airport are all subjected to security checks.

Additionally, any person seeking to attain access to the restricted areas at Entebbe International Airport for various purposes is required to write to the Aviation Security Manager, Uganda Civil Aviation Authority for security clearance way before the planned activity.
